Hi! Are you interested in commissioning me for a painting? Here are a few things I’d like you to know before you click on that “Contact Artist” button:
Know what it is you would like to see in the painting. We can work together on determining what you’d like the outcome to be; however, you’ll need to remember each artist has their own style. We’ll have to determine if your ideas and my ideas are a good match.
If commissioning me for a painting of your pet, I will need a high-resolution photo with good lighting. I prefer to see the eyes of your pet very clearly. It makes the end product far more personal. Otherwise, it’s just an animal that looks like your pet. I prefer receiving images through Google Drive, which seems to work best, or you can attach them to an email. No photos should be delivered by text or social media.
A phone call between us will be required before I begin painting.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the agreed-upon price is required for me to begin the process of ordering supplies and begin painting. The other 50% will be paid once painting is complete and ready to ship.
I determine the cost of a painting by using a per square inch formula, factoring in details such as size, complexity, market rate for supplies, and timeline for completion. Your final cost will include shipping and any required tax.
Clear, open, and timely communication is required. The more quickly we can move through the planning, the more quickly I can start painting. Each step takes time, and the timelier we are, the sooner you can have a personalized painting in your home!
Lastly, I reserve the right to turn down a request for a commission for any reason. There’s no rushing through a painting, and I can only complete so many quality paintings in a year.
Now, go ahead and “Contact Artist” and I’ll get back to you soon!
